SETC 64th Annual Convention March 6-10, 2013, Louisville, KY

Over 4,000 actors, professional company representatives, design and technical professionals, theatre educators, students from universities and high schools, commercial exhibitors, university representatives, community theatre producers and participants – those who practice theatre as a vocation and those who hold it as their avocation – will gather for The Nation’s Largest Theatre Convention at the Galt House Hotel, Louisville, KY. 

Since 1949, SETC has been hosting an annual convention held each year during the first week of March. This is a theatre convention that HAS IT ALL! Participants can choose from a multitude of events and activities to find their niche or interest.

Michael Bobbitt (Producing Artistic Director) of Adventure Theatre MTC has directed, choreographed and performed at many theatres in the DC region, including Arena Stage, Ford’s Theatre Society, The Shakespeare Theatre Company, Signature Theatre, Metro Stage, Rorshach Theatre Company, Studio Theatre, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, Center Stage, Roundhouse Theatre, The Music Center at Strathmore, The Kennedy Center, The Helen Hayes Awards and the Washington National Opera. His national and international credits include the NY Musical Theatre Festival, Mel Tillis 2001, Jefferson Performing Arts Center, and 1996 Olympics. He studied creative writing and music at Susquehanna University and theater and dance at The Washington Ballet, The Dance Theatre of Harlem, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and NY University’s Tisch School of the Arts (Cap 21).

Michael is a member of the Dramatist Guild of America and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. Michael has taught theater and dance at George Washington University, Catholic University, Montgomery College, Howard University, and the Washington Ballet. Michael was co-chair of Young Non-Profit Network DC- Executive Director Roundtable, NAACP chair for his son’s school in Montgomery County, a Commissioner for the Montgomery County Commission on Children and Youth. He is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery. In 2010, Michael received the County Executive’s Excellence in the Arts and Humanities – Emerging Leader Award. Michael served on the Board of Directors of The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, The DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative, Theatre for Young Audiences and theatreWashington and has served on grants panels for The National Endowment for the Arts, The DC Commission.  Bethesda Magazine listed him as an “Up and Comer” and The Washingtonian called him a “Person to Know”.
