Gainesville Theatre Alliance (GTA) is a nationally acclaimed collaboration of the University of North Georgia, Brenau University, Theatre Professionals and the Northeast Georgia Community.

Company Overview
The Gainesville Theatre Alliance is a creative ensemble of students, community members and professionals that recognizes learning and growth as its primary goal. We nurture the development of skills, intellect, commitment and a generous spirit.
The Gainesville Theatre Allliance is unique for an academic theatre program in that it is also a semi-professional performance company. Our active Guest Artist program keeps our performance standards high and provides students with dozens of mentors and professional contacts. GTA received national recognition came in 1990, when GTA's production of THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL was one of seven selected from a field of 600 for the American College Theater Festival National Showcase at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The Georgia Council for the Arts consistantly ranks the Gainesville Theatre Alliance as one of the best arts organizations in the state. GTA's parent educational institutions were honored again in the year 2000 for "Academic Excellence" from the American Council on Education.

GTA continues to thrive and grow, with a MainStage season that performs for over 20,000 community patrons annually, including performances by GTA's 2009 Sara Spencer Award winning WonderQuest: GTA for Young Audiences. With the addition of GTA-SouthernStage, a new venture with the City of Buford to establish a resident professional company in Buford's new $9 million theatre, GTA performs on 5 different stages, frequently simultaneously, and are helping to make the Lake Lanier region a regional arts destination.
